Gianluigi Donnarumma given time until May 23 to make his decision amidst Manchester United interest
According to Tuttosport (h/t The Daily Mail), Manchester United target Gianluigi Donnarumma has been given time by AC Milan until May 23 to make a decision on his future at the San Siro.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, Milan face a battle against time to convince him to stay put. Despite being just 22 years old, the Italian shot-stopper has made almost 250 appearances at the top level and is amongst the best talents in Serie A.
Milan will offer him no more than £130,000-a-week in wages and want an answer by the final Serie A match of the season away at Atalanta. The offer however pales in comparison to what his agent Mino Raiola is seeking.
The superagent, who also represents Paul Pogba, wants over £200,000-a-week for his client. Milan, as yet, do not appear to be willing to meet it.
Milan’s insistence on a deadline is understandable given the urgency of the matter. It will ensure the player makes up his mind by the time the Euros kick-off.
An offer we cannot refuse!
The Red Devils are also set to revamp their goalkeeping department this summer. Sergio Romero looks set to leave while David de Gea’s future is also far from certain.
While it could mean that Dean Henderson could take over as the club’s No.1, the chance to snare Donnarumma is enticing. The Italian is one of the best young players in his position and to get a player of his profile and experience for free is rare.
Getting rid of De Gea could free up funds to offer Donnarumma what he wants.
