Manchester United and Arsenal keeping tabs on Alassane Plea
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United will go up against Arsenal in the pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Alassane Plea.
The 28-year-old is enjoying an excellent season in the German top flight. Capable of playing anywhere along the front line, he has already secured himself 11 goals and five assists in 36 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
It is no secret that the Red Devils are keen to bring in a new striker this summer. While Erling Haaland remained the preferred choice, it is fair to say that we cannot afford him at the moment.
Blessed with power and pace, Plea has the potential to be an excellent addition to the United frontline. More so, his £15m valuation offers excellent worth.
We will, however, have to compete against Arsenal for his signature. Both clubs have been long-term admirers of the Frenchman and were linked with a move last summer.
The Gunners have concerns over the futures of both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The former remains unsure about committing to a new contract at the Emirates. (h/t Daily Mail)
United appear to have taken an interest in strikers from the Bundesliga this season. Apart from Haaland and Plea, we have also been keeping tabs on Andre Silva.
The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has impressed this season and leading the German side’s fight for a top-four finish.

Plea has made a solitary appearance for France at the internaitonal level. Givan the riches at the World Champions’ disposal, it should not colour our opinion of the player.
Currently in his prime, Plea would be an excellent and shrewd addition to an ever-improving United squad.
