Manchester United keen to trump Leicester City for Alassane Plea
According to Le10 Sport (h/t Mirror), Manchester United are set to battle it out with Leicester City for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea.
The 27-year-old Frenchman has enjoyed a fruitful season in Germany and has eight goals and eight assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
Having joined Die Fohlen in 2018, he has become critical to the German side’s effort to qualify for the Champions League this season. His performances have seen him capture the eye of a number of clubs.
Monchengladbach are preparing themselves for offers and are set to demand a hefty fee (h/t Mirror).
United are keen on adding to their attacking options. They have seen the effect a first-class attack can have following the addition of Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo.
Although Jadon Sancho remains the top target, United are also following up on other options.
We face considerable competition for Plea from Leicester who have been long term admirers of the striker. Former Foxes boss Claude Puel had earlier worked with the player at Nice and was keen to reunite with him at the King Power stadium.
It appears as if his successor, Brendan Rodgers is also keen on signing the player (h/t Mirror).
The Foxes are keen to replace Jamie Vardy. The Englishman remains a potent striker but is not getting any younger. With Leicester currently on the rise, they can’t afford to put off replacing their prolific number nine.
United erred in letting Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lulaku leave the last summer without bringing in any replacements. The injury to Marcus Rashford had left us short upfront, thankfully Ighalo has stepped up to the plate.

United can do better than Plea. At 27, he is not likely to be a long-term option.
With Monchengladbach keen to get top dollar for the player (h/t Mirror), we will be better off spending the money elsewhere.
