Manchester United cool interest in Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United have cooled their interest in Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland.
The 20-year-old is one of the best young players in world football. A clear favourite to address our need for a striker, Haaland was an automatic choice for the club to pursue.
The Red Devils have now cooled their interest and are looking to address other priorities in the summer.
According to the report, United are keen to bring in a central defender and a right-winger. Both positions have needed addressing for some time now and we cannot afford to leave it off any longer.
The lack of a dependable centre-back alongside skipper Harry Maguire is apparent to both fans and rivals. While both Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have had their chances, they haven’t been able to stamp their authority on the squad.
A number of defenders are currently on United’s radar. This includes top talents such as Raphael Varane and upcoming stars like Jules Kounde and Ben White. (h/t The Express)
A long-standing issue!
United were keen to bring in Jadon Sancho last summer to strengthen their right flank. Instead, we got bogged down in the saga of the summer and ended up bringing in nobody.
A year on, Dortmund appear to be willing to part ways with their star winger if an appropriate offer comes in. Moreover, the club are also keeping tabs on Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele, Leeds United ace Raphinha and even Sporting Lisob star Pedro Goncalves.
With targets identified and a new transfer team in place, it remains to be seen if we can steal the march on our rivals this summer.

Haaland is a truly special talent but will cost us a fortune to land. With funds at a premium too, putting all our eggs in one basket is unlikely to strengthen us as a whole.
It would appear we have learned from our lessons and are now set to address issues that are plaguing the team.
