Bruno Fernandes provides a simple solution for Manchester United to turn into title contenders
Speaking to FourFourTwo (h/t Manchester Evening News), star playmaker Bruno Fernandes has revealed what Manchester United need to do to turn into Premier League title contenders.
The Red Devils solidified their hold on second spot with a come-from-behind win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday. Despite being the second best team to Manchester City, there is a 14-point gap between them.
Rather than focus on transfers or tactics, Fernandes believes the club should just focus on winning more games.
“To win more matches.”
The Premier League has the tendency to throw up surprises and every game is far from a foregone conclusion. By winning more games, United are putting themselves in a position of strength.
“It’s tough in England, because the games are so tight. Every team genuinely has a chance to win the match. It’s 50/50 before every game, and we see it with the results.”
Both City and Liverpool have shown in recent seasons that one slip up could be the difference between ending up champions or runners-up. This has led to them reaching levels of consistency that has not been seen before.
No margin for error!
The very fact that Liverpool finished with 97 points in 2018 only to finish second illustrates Fernandes’ point.
“We still have to be the best United we can, but we have improved.”
Fernandes went on to admit that the team is improving and will continue to do so. He also went on to add that improving our home form is a must. United have in fact won more point away from home this season, having won just eight of their 15 games at the Theatre of Dreams.
