Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes remains committed to the club despite uncertainty over the future of manager Erik ten Hag

Bruno Fernandes remains committed to Manchester United as the future remains uncertain for Erik ten Hag under the new regime.  Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS control the footballing operations and they have already made several changes at the upper management.

The rumours about the change in manager after the current season have been circulating weekly since they arrived at the club. United suffered a horrible start to the season, facing an early exit from the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

They are currently challenging to secure next season’s Champions League spot from the sixth position in the Premier League. The FA Cup is the only possible trophy that the Red Devils can win this season, making amends for failure.

Ten Hag appointed Fernandes as the new United manager before the beginning of the current season by stripping Harry Maguire. The 29-year-old has been consistently productive for the club before this season since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020.

However, Fernandes has faced stern criticism from the fans and media for his performances and antics as the club’s captain. Many questioned his negative body language and penchant for complaining while looking visibly dejected whenever things went wrong.

The Portugal international has made 38 appearances for United, contributing with eight goals and nine assists this season. Fichajes reported that Fernandes intends to remain loyal despite the criticism and work hard to secure a new contract.

The 29-year-old’s current contract expires on June 30, 2026, when he is close to 32 years of age. To achieve a new lucrative contract, the 29-year-old needs to prove that age is just a number.

Currently, INEOS would prefer to keep the Portuguese in their plan regardless of the potential change in the managerial post. Fernandes is more than just his performance as part of the leaders in the team and well-respected among his peers.
