Manchester United set to double the wages of star midfielder Bruno Fernandes

According to The Sun, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes could effectively double his wages come the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has arguably been United’s best player over the last year. With 34 goals and 21 assists in just 62 games, his impact has been clear for all to see. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Fernandes has often stepped up in clutch situations and his goals have played a major role in our success in recent months. It is safe to say that we would not be where are without the midfielder’s contributions.

Fernandes currently nets £100,000-a-week at Untied. Although he earns heavily from bonuses and incentives, it is nowhere close to what the likes of David de Gea and Paul Pogba earn.

Given that the duo have failed to match Fernandes’ output, it is only fair that the Portuguese star gets rewarded for his contributions.

According to the report, Fernandes too is keen on a pay rise. Given his efforts on the pitch, denying him that would be unjust. Fresh terms could see him net as much as £200,000-a-week excluding bonuses.

De Gea is the highest earner at Manchester United at £375,000-a-week, with Pogba trailing in second place at about £290,000-a-week. Martial is third and is followed by the likes of Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire. (h/t The Sun)

Fernandes’ current deal at Old Trafford runs until 2025. While he earns a little less than double of what he earned at Sporting Lisbon, it can still be considered a frugal amount.

As the club’s top scorer this season, he has only gone from strength to strength. It is time we rewarded him with a wage package worthy of his standing.
