Solskjaer insists Manchester United not over-reliant on Bruno Fernandes

According to The Guardian, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the impact made by Bruno Fernandes after one year at the club, but insists that the team is not too reliant on him.

Fernandes arrived at Manchester United a year ago from Sporting Lisbon and has made a huge difference to the team. No player has been directly involved in more goals in the Premier League than the Portuguese since his arrival last January.

Fernandes played a huge role in our third-place finish last season and has continued to be a talismanic presence this term, although his form has seen a slight dip of late. Nevertheless, manager Solskjaer has hailed his impact since coming onboard exactly one year ago on Friday.

“Bruno has come in and helped the team, no doubt about that. Bruno came in at a time when we needed that type of player and he came into a team that makes his attributes and skills come to fruition.”

Given how integral Fernandes is to the team, there have been claims that Manchester United are way too reliant on him. However, Solskjaer has dismissed any such notions.

“He’s come to a team that suits him and he suits the team. That goes hand in hand. If the players don’t run, Bruno can’t play his passes. If Bruno doesn’t play his passes then they can’t run.

“He’s part of a chain here and I’m sure that Bruno will say that he also appreciates his teammates and that they help him through games.”

Since joining the club, Fernandes has already scored 26 goals and set up 18 in just 53 games. Even though, his form has slightly declined in recent games, there is no denying his impact and his importance to this team.

And he will need to be performing at his best if we are to sustain a title challenge this term.
