Anthony Martial backed to come good by Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to the MEN, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that he has complete faith that struggling striker Anthony Martial will come good for the club.

After enjoying a fine campaign in 2019/20, Martial has struggled to replicate that form this time out. So far in the ongoing season, the Frenchman has netted just five goals in 26 games in all competitions, with only two coming in the Premier League.

Martial endured a poor outing against Sheffield United as we ended up losing 2-1 to the bottom feeders at home earlier in the week. Following that, the Frenchman has had to cope with a lot of criticism. However, Solskjaer has thrown his weight beyond the 25-year-old forward.

“He’s improved his fitness, he’s probably improved by 10-15 per cent from when I came – his running distance, his sprint distance. His talent will always take him through. I’ve got no doubt about that whatsoever. Yes, he’s missed a couple of chances but that happens to everyone.”

The Manchester United manager further urged Martial to not get frustrated, adding that everyone at the club knows how good he is, having seen him do things in training.

“It’s just being ready when the chance, for example, tomorrow comes. Just be mentally ready. Don’t be frustrated, I’ve been there myself going through patches when you don’t really score goals. He keeps practicing in training so we know how good he is and we know he will come good.”

Martial showed last season as to what he can do. It’s just about applying himself better and building up his confidence. In Edinson Cavani, the Frenchman has one of the best strikers in the game to learn from and emulate. Hopefully, he is able to find his mojo back soon.
