Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already revealed his plans to Amad Diallo
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast (h/t The Metro), transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already spoken to Amad Diallo ahead of his January switch to Manchester United.
The 18-year-old is set to become United’s first arrival of the January transfer window. Although the deal to sign him was agreed in the summer, the 18-year-old was forced to remain in Italy until he was granted a work-permit.
Diallo, now armed with an Italian passport, flew out to Rome to work out the final details. He will travel to Manchester later this week.
Solskjaer has already informed Diallo that he plans to integrate him into his first-team set-up immediately. An extremely promising prospect, the Norwegian believes that the youngster is ready to make an immediate impact.
“I want you here, right now.”
The player for his part is thrilled to be joining United, especially after having spoken to Solskjaer. The deal will set the Red Devils back by £37million.
While Diallo is set to train with the United first-team, he will only be integrated into the matchday squads slowly. Picking up regular minutes with the club’s developmental squad will ease him into the United way of playing the game.
A transfer four years in the making
Diallo is one of the best young talents to come out of Atalanta in recent years. The Italians were keen to keep hold of the player on loan until the end of the season. United however were having none of it.
United have been long-term admirers of the player and have tracked him since 2016. They first became aware of his abilities during his time in the Under-15s. Four years on, we have finally got our man. (h/t Express)

Diallo made his first-team bow for Atalanta in the Serie A last season and promptly went on to score on his debut. In doing so, he became the first player born in 2002 to score in the Italian top-flight.
Atalanta skipper Papu Gomez went as far as comparing the youngster to Argentine legend Lionel Messi. If he turns into half the player the Barcelona superstar is, United will have a great player on their hands. (The Express)
