Manchester United and Solskjaer face competition from Atalanta United for Moises Caicedo
According to MEN, Manchester United face competition from MLS side Atalanta United for Moises Caicedo as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer battles it out with former Red Devil Gabriel Heinze.
United have been heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old. We have however been unable to reach an agreement to secure his services.
MEN had earlier reported that the Red Devils were close to reaching a deal worth around €6million for the 19-year-old Ecuadorian’s services. The deal would also have seen a 20% sell-on clause included.
However Caicedo’s current club, Independiente del Valle admitted they have had no formal agreement in place with United to sell the teenager. They are however resigned to losing the player this year.
With United apparently stalling, there could be an opening for other clubs to enter the fray. Independiente general manager Santiago Morales has admitted that two other European clubs are in the fray.
The Ecuadorians appear to be keen on selling as he went on to express his hope that negotiations would be prompt.
Now a third side, MLS’ Atalanta United have made an offer to land Caicedo in January. Managed by former United star Gabriel Heinze, the Argentine will look to trump his former side to the 19-tear-old wonderkid.
The entrance of more teams into the fray could lead to a bidding war. Independiente recently increased their asking price from €6million to €10million.
Caicedo had earlier admitted to looking up to United superstar Paul Pogba among others. He can play as a box-to-box midfielder and also as a defensive midfielder. (h/t Daily Record)
