Rio Ferdinand urges Manchester United to sign Jack Grealish

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Rio Ferdinand Presents Five, Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to sign Jack Grealish.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with the Aston Villa skipper in the summer. However, the interest came to nothing.

Grealish has since stepped up his game at Villa Park. He is now amongst the best midfielders in the league and has seen his stock rise.

The future of United superstar Paul Pogba remains unclear following recent comments by his agent Mino Raiola.

Ferdinand believes United must rekindle their interest in Grealish and secure him irrespective of the Frenchman’s fate.

“I don’t care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man.”

There is little doubt that Grealish would be a dynamic addition to the United midfield. We will however have to face certain hurdles if we are serious about signing him.

Unlike in the summer, Grealish is now hot property. The likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all keen on him. A potential deal will not come cheap either, with the £100million mark expected to be breached.

Ferdinand is familiar with Grealish since his youth. He has also come to know that the midfielder remains committed both on and off the field.

“I have heard from a lot of people that he is diligent in all the work he does off the pitch to get to where he is now.”

Having signed a new deal only last year, Villa are in a strong position when it comes to negotiations. Grealish helped them stave off relegation last season and has been central to their excellent start this season.

Given his importance to Villa, United will need to fork out a king’s ransom to land the 25-year-old. Whether the club will do that remains to be seen.
