Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand revels in Liverpool misery on Twitter

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is not one for playing coy when the team is doing well. He showcased it once again yesterday after league leaders Liverpool fell to their second defeat of the season against Southampton.

The Merseysiders have now dropped seven points in their last nine games. Although they still remain on top, United could leapfrog them by taking a solitary point against Burnley in their game in hand.

While there is still a long way to go in the season, Liverpool’s drop in form has stopped them from pulling away from the chasing pack. This could prove pivotal come the business end of the campaign.

Given the start United have had, it is nothing short of a miracle that we now find ourselves on the cusp of going top of the league. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the players must take all the credit for our incredible turnaround.

Liverpool and Manchester United face off on January 17

United travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in less than two weeks time. The clash now gains more enormity given how close both teams are.

A win for us will not just end Liverpool’s unbeaten home record but also strengthen our grip over them in the title race.

On can only imagine how Ferdinand will react if we manage to come out victorious at Anfield.

It is still mighty early in the season for us to celebrate. With more than half of it still to be played, there could yet be many twists and turns.

But for now, we appear to be on the right track and must take any advantage that comes our way.
