Summer signing Facundo Pellistri reveals his goals at Manchester United

Speaking to MUTV (h/t Manchester Evening News), new Manchester United signing Facundo Pellistri expressed his goals going into 2021.

The 19-year-old joined Old Trafford from Uruguayan giants Penarol in the summer. The £7.65million signing has since spent his time with the U-23 team in a bid to get used to English football.

The Uruguayan winger is in good form for Neil Wood’s side. He has 3 goals in his last 4 matches and is looking like he is ready to take the step up.

Pellistri says that he is in close touch with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“He is giving me advice and asking me how I am doing and how I am feeling. That, for me, is very important.”

Adding to that, Pellistri says that it is his ‘dream’ to fight for a place in the starting XI. And he adds that he is working towards a debut in the first-team in the next 12 months.

“That is my biggest dream. Yes, that it what I am working on [getting a debut] and, hopefully, I am going to have it.”

One for the future

The Uruguayan winger has looked impressive in the developmental team. However, the Premier League is a different beast.

Luckily for him, there could be opportunities for United to play the youngster. Pellistri is not unrealistic in dreaming about a possible debut this season as has already made the bench twice this campaign.

He was an unused substitute in Manchester United’s UEFA Champions League group stage wins against Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir.

For United, Pellistri could be a long-term solution at right-wing. But for that to happen, the 19-year-old needs to continue his good form and replicate it in the senior squad when he gets the chance.
