Going into the summer transfer window Manchester United are planning a major overhaul of the senior squad and Facundo Pellistri could be one to make way. The Red Devils plan to raise funds and invest those into new faces in a bid to return to the top of the footballing pyramid.

One of the players the Manchester United are planning to sell is Facundo Pellistri. According to a report by Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Reds from Manchester are planning to sell the 22-year-old on a permanent transfer in the summer transfer window.

There is a belief that the Uruguayan will be shipped if Manchester United were to receive any considerable offers for a permanent transfer. The planned summer exodus will help Manchester United to transform the club in the off season.

Pellistri is currently on-loan at Granada for the ongoing campaign. Manchester United sent him to Spain in the January transfer window and it is debatable what the future holds for him at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Uruguayan winger has featured thrice for his temporary employers since his loan transfer. He has scored once and given a assist in 237 minutes of football under his belt in Spain. Both of his goal contributions came against Barcelona.

The deal that sent Facundo Pellistri to Granada in the January transfer window does not include any option to buy, and the Spanish club will cover his full wages for the remainder of the season.

Manchester United, therefore, intend to explore possible options for Pellistri’s departure in the summer, aiming to reap dividends on their investment in the Uruguayan winger. The club reportedly paid £9 million to Uruguayan side Penarol in 2020 to bring him to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old made 14 appearances for Manchester United in the ongoing campaign across all competitions before his loan move to Granada. He has registered one Premier League assist in those fourteen appearances.

Despite hopes for Facundo Pellistri to succeed at Manchester United, there appears to be a strong possibility of him being sold in the summer transfer window.
