Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero a target for Brighton
According to the Daily Mail, Brighton & Hove Albion have identified Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero as a potential replacement for Matt Ryan.
Ryan, having been the first-choice goalkeeper for the Seagulls, has fallen behind Robert Sanchez this season. And he has now been told that he is free to find a new club this month by Brighton.
And, should he end up leaving, Brighton have identified Manchester United’s Romero as the man to replace him in the squad.
The 33-year-old Argentine has been with Manchester United since 2015 and had been a top-notch backup goalkeeper, serving as second-fiddle to David de Gea.
However, following the return of Dean Henderson after his loan spell, he slotted in as De Gea’s understudy, with Romero dropping further down the pecking order. In fact, the 33-year-old was omitted from our Premier League squad entirely and hasn’t featured at all this term.
Romero came close to signing for Everton in the summer but a move fell through, while a transfer to MLS outfit Inter Miami did not materialise either. However, the Argentine could be on his way out this month, with Brighton now showing interest. (h/t Daily Mail)

Apart from the Seagulls, it is claimed that an unnamed La Liga side is also interested in Romero. They are already in talks to take him on loan for the rest of the season. (h/t Daily Mail)
Since joining Manchester United, Romero has made 61 appearances, keeping 39 clean sheets. It now remains to be seen where the Argentine international ends up this month.
