Manchester Untied boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer manages to tick off Romelu Lukaku as he launches Paul Pogba defence
According to the Mirror, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended Paul Pogba by taking the example of Inter Milan ace Romelu Lukaku.
Pogba appears to be on his way out of United following revelations by his agent Mino Raiola that he is unhappy at the club. (h/t Mirror)
It was been a forgettable year for the Frenchman who has struggled with both injury and coronavirus. He has, to his credit, shown some form of late with a goal against West ham United and an impressive cameo against Leipzig.
Solskjaer has gone on to label football a team game while confirming that Pogba is keen to contribute to the cause as long as he is at the club. (h/t Mirror)
“He’s very focused on contributing when he’s here.”
The Norwegian also went on to add that Pogba retains his hunger and appetite and is keen to keep training. It is a positive assessment of a player who is in the news for the wrong reasons. (h/t Mirror)
“He’s just focused on performing when he gets a chance. That’s the good thing about Paul.”
Whilst he did not take any names, Solskjaer compared Pogba’s conduct to that of a former player who refused to train and play. It is believed that this player in question is Lukaku. (h/t Mirror)
“There have been other players refusing to train and refusing to play – they’re not here anymore of course – but Paul’s not once done that.”
While the Belgian ace has his detractors, we don’t think anyone can argue that his move to Inter Milan has worked out well for all parties involved.
More Manchester United
- Manchester United are keeping tabs on Ben White
- Edinson Cavani rejected offers from two other clubs to join Manchester United
- Manchester United and Anthony Martial could part ways next summer
While Solskjaer’s defence of Pogba is admirable, there was no need for him to drag in Lukaku’s name into the row.
While the Norwegian may have wanted to sue the Inter Milan star as a barometer for comparison, it serves no one to dig up old bones.
Hopefully, Pogba will continue to let his football do the talking. With Manchester City up next, we could not say no to yet another match-winning performance by the French ace.
