Sergio Aguero will not make the starting lineup against Manchester United
According to MEN, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero is still struggling ahead of the match against Manchester United this weekend.
This should come as good news to United, who are looking to bounce back after being dumped out of the UEFA Champions League midweek.
Both Manchester clubs are currently separated by a single point, with us ahead of our rivals. A win on the night will see us keep pace with the teams at the Premier League summit.
Aguero is one of the best strikers in the league and is a prolific scorer. He has a good record against us and has netted nine goals in 13 appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The 32-year-old is enjoying a difficult season due to injuries. He has so far made just five appearances in all competitions this campaign.
Aguero came off the bench against Marseille in the Champions League yesterday. He showed his ability as he grabbed a goal to boost his confidence going into Saturday.
“He played 25 minutes and scored a goal and was active. Step by step. What is important is how his reaction will be tomorrow after this effort.”
When asked if the Argentine would start against United, Guardiola replied in the negative. He can however be brought on off the bench if needed.
Despite not having their ace marksman from the start, City remain a formidable unit whom United must be wary of.
