Fabrizio Romano pours cold water on Manchester United interest in Ousmane Dembele
He went on to add that the Red Devils have not made a bid for the Frenchman. The 23-year-old is not keen for a move either and wants to stay on at the Nou Camp.
Dembele was seen as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho. The Englishman was United’s top target this summer. However, the asking price is proving to be a bridge too far for the Red Devils.
A former Dortmund player himself, Dembele made a much-publicized move to the Nou Camp in 2017. While he continues to show off his brilliance, injuries and inconsistency in form have stopped him from making a consistent impact.
In fact, his injuries have seen him miss more games than what he has played for Barcelona. (h/t Transfermarkt)
When in form, Dembele is one of the most devastating players on the wing. However, getting his fitness levels up remains a challenge. With the club not making a move for the Frenchman, it does not appear like something we should worry about.
It has been a rather distressing window for United. Dutch star Donny van de Beek is the club’s only major signing so far and is far from what we need to close the gap at the top.

With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, it remains to be seen who United sign. It would be safe to say that Dembele would not be one of them.
