Kylian Mbappe set to leave PSG in 2021 with Manchester United a potential destination
According to Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express), Manchester United is a potential destination for French superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The 21-year-old is one of the world’s best young players and has the makings of a future world-beater.
Given his skills, there should be no shortage of suitors if he is indeed on the market. Having spent two seasons at PSG, the youngster is ready for a new challenge, preferably in the Premier League or La Liga.
Capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, Mbappe is a versatile attacker with an eye for goal. He has made 124 appearances for PSG so far, scoring 90 goals and 51 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
According to the report, Spanish champions Real Madrid are the frontrunners for the 21-year-old. Los Blancos have already put money aside to make their move.
Domestically, Liverpool could present the greatest threat in our pursuit of the Frenchman. Moreover, Mbappe has also hinted at his interest in Jurgen Klopp’s side. The prospect of losing out on such a talent to our arch-rivals is unthinkable.
Castles believes that Ed Woodward and the Glazers are very much interested in bringing Mbappe to Old Trafford. United will however have to show they are a leading force in Europe before making their move.
“The other club he’s interested in is Manchester United, which I’m sure would be a great appeal for The Glazers and Ed Woodward, to go after a player of his quality.”
Some way off!
Bringing in a player of Mbappe’s quality will be a statement of intent. However, we are currently some way off from being counted among the best in England, let alone Europe.
Unless the club strengthen the squad in the last few weeks of the transfer window, that could be set to continue.
