Manchester United closing in on Spanish full-back Sergio Reguilon

According to Spanish publication Marca (h/t Lancashire Live), Manchester United are in the driving seat for Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon.

The 23-year-old Spanish international spent last season on loan at Sevilla. His performances caught the eye as he played a key role in the La Liga side’s Europa League win.

United have intensified their efforts to land the defender and talks are now at an advanced stage.

The Red Devils have been handed a boost after Sevilla dropped out of the race for his signature.

United are keen to bring in competition for Luke Shaw at left-back. The Englishman continues to struggle with injuries while his understudy, Brandon Williams, has looked out of his depth at times.

Adding Reguilon would give us a boost in both attack and defence. The Spaniard is a deft hand at both ends of the pitch and will provide us with quality and depth.

Reguilon has also garnered interest from fellow Premier League sides Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea. (h/t The Express)

Signing Reguilon will end our pursuit of Dwight McNeil

A move for Reguilon will see us drop out of trying to sign Burnley winger Dwight McNeil. This is due to a lack of transfer funds required to complete the move. (h/t Lancashire Live)

Burnley boss Sean Dyche revealed that it would take an ‘extortionate offer’ to prise the winger away from Turf Moor. It now looks as if McNeil is set to stay on at Burnley for another season.

With us struggling to find the money to sign McNeil, we wonder what the odds of us forking out the cash for Jadon Sancho are.

More Manchester United News

United have enjoyed a rather underwhelming transfer window so far. Dutch international Donny van de Beek is the club’s senior signing so far.

With time running out, it remains to be seen who else we will bring in.
