Donny van de Beek prefers Real Madrid move over Manchester United
According to transfer expert Duncan Castles (h/t Express), Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek has decided to join Real Madrid over Manchester United this summer.
Van de Beek has been on the club’s radar since last summer when he led Ajax to a shock UEFA Champions League semi-final run. However, a move did not materialize, as the 23-year-old stayed put in Netherlands and enjoyed another fine season.
Van de Beek finished the 2019/20 campaign with a return of 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 matches across all competitions. This has once again led to interest from both Manchester United and Real Madrid, something which Ajax director Edwin van der Sar confirmed recently. (h/t Express)
It has been claimed that Real Madrid have already agreed to terms with the Dutchman. However, there are now doubts whether they will be able to pay the £49m, which had been seen as a boost for Manchester United. (h/t Express)
Duncan Castles, though, has claimed that Van de Beek prefers a transfer to Real Madrid, with the midfield’s camp awaiting Los Blancos to come up with their offer. (h/t Express)
“So the preference for Van de Beek is to go to Real Madrid. That’s the information that I have from Ajax, that they see Madrid as the favourites and they see Madrid as the club that Van de Beek actually wants to go to.”

This ought to come as a blow for us. Given how brilliant Van de Beek has been for Ajax, he would have been a fine acquisition.
But then, if Paul Pogba does end up staying at the club, then we may not need any reinforcements in the position come summer.
