In a recent Q&A with fans, as reported by the club’s official website, Manchester United star Luke Shaw has claimed that teammate Marcus Rashford is more than capable of winning the Ballon d’Or in the future.

Rashford, a product of our academy, has gone on to become one of the best young forwards in the game. Just 22 years old, the Englishman has already racked up 201 appearances for United, scoring 64 goals and assisting 34 more.

Rashford has enjoyed his best season in 2019/20, despite having been out with an injury since the turn of the year. So far, the England international has plundered 19 goals in 31 games, while assisting six more.

Given his exploits, expectations on the 22-year-old have risen exponentially. In a recent Q&A, a fan @UtdBence had asked Shaw if our No.10 could win the Ballon d’Or someday. In response, the left-back said:

“Yeah, for sure. He’s improved greatly from when he first came on the scene not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. He’s a massive example to everyone. ”

Shaw also went on to laud Rashford’s maturity of the pitch, especially during the current circumstances, during which the 22-year-old has done so much to help the community. (h/t ManUtd.com)

No Manchester United player has won the Ballon d’Or Award since Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the coveted honour back in 2008.

While Paul Pogba has the capabilities to do so, the Frenchman hasn’t been able to perform at his best level for our club. Rashford, though, has shown all signs of following in our former No.7’s footsteps in the future.
