Manchester United flop could leave Old Trafford this summer

As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United flop, Donny van de Beek is considering a return to his former club, Ajax this summer. The 27-year-old has been having a tough time ever since he moved to Old Trafford.

Since his arrival in 2020, Donny has only made 62 appearances for the team recording two goals and two assists. An abysmal showing by the 27-year-old, to say the least. He has also been on two separate loan spells.

One was with Everton and the second is still on going as Van De Beek is currently with Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side had an €11m purchase option for the player which they will likely not be activating.

So, Donny will once again find himself strapped for minutes if he returns to Man United. However, Ajax would be a solid destination for the player. It is the club where he rose to international prominence thus earning a move to Old Trafford.

The Eredivisie side is also known for their player development which could help Donny get back to his former self. During his first stint with Ajax, the 27-year-old made a total of 175 appearances recording 41 goals and 34 assists.

His drop in form has been disastrous and a move back to Ajax could help the Dutch midfielder turn things around for himself. It is becoming more and more clear that Donny has already played his last game for Erik ten Hag in a Man United shirt.
