Man United set to hijack Real Madrid’s move for 10-goal Dutch league rising star

Man United set to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Donny van de Beek

According to a report by Marca (h/t The Sun), Manchester United are set to hijack La Liga giants Real Madrid’s move for Ajax starlet Donny van de Beek in the summer transfer window.

The current footballing season has come to a halt due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that has brought the world to a standstill. Currently placed 5th in the standings, United are just 3 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea – meaning a top-four finish could be on the cards.

The Sun claims that Real Madrid have already agreed on terms with the youngster after failing to sign him earlier in the campaign.

However, Marca (h/t The Sun) believe that United’s top-brass are plotting a move to lure van de Beek to Old Trafford instead. There is a catch – this would be possible only if Real choose to terminate the pre-agreement with the 22-year-old.

Since Paul Pogba’s future at United is uncertain, signing van de Beek would prove to be a cheaper alternative when compared to our other targets James Maddison and Jack Grealish, reports The Sun.

With 10 goals and 11 assists to his name already this term, the Ajax starlet has been a force to reckon with. An attacking playmaker by trade, signing him would represent a statement of intent by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – considering the youth revolution he has sparked at Old Trafford.

Realistically though, it remains to be seen if United are able to convince the Dutchman to ditch Real and move to the red side of Manchester instead.

Although it seems far-fetched, it goes without saying that signing the Ajax starlet would be a splendid move for us.
