Journo says 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder could have his contract run out
Manchester United paid £34.6m to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax back in 2020. However, the move has not worked out for either side. After four years at Old Trafford, the 26-year-old is currently on his second loan spell.
He has made 62 appearances for the Red Devils recording just two goals and two assists. Van de Beek was one of the most exciting midfielders back when he was in the Eredivisie. However, his time in the Premier League has been disastrous.
Now, Dean Jones has revealed to GIVEMESPORT that he might not play for the Red Devils again. Let’s have a look at what else he had to say while speaking about Donny van de Beek.
“It is a pretty sad situation because he should have been a good signing.”
“At this stage, it might even be a case of agreeing to let him leave for free if it gets him off the wage bill.”
Van de Beek currently makes about £120,000 every week. However, if you look at his contribution to the Red Devils, some may argue that he is heavily overpaid. Manchester United shouldn’t hesitate to let him leave just to get him off the wage bill.
The team also seems to be willing to let go of Raphael Varane. The Frenchman is one of the highest-paid players at the club and he has failed to perform at his usual level. If a quality player like Varane isn’t safe, then Van de Beek won’t even be an afterthought.
Fans had a lot of expectations from the former Ajax star. However, he will only be remembered as another player from the Eredivisie who failed to make an impact in the Premier League. It seems likely that Antony will also be joining that list soon.
