Deal close: Man United could seal the transfer for highly-rated youngster for around £17.5m

Manchester United could finalise the signing of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto according to the Independent. United finished second in the Premier League and also lost in the FA Cup final and it is understood that Jose Mourinho is going to bolster his side ahead of the next season.

The report goes on to suggest that Dalot’s final fee would be close to his release clause of £17.5m that is set to become active soon.

The 19-year-old didn’t play too many games last season for the first-team but he is regarded as one of the brightest players around in Portugal.

Dalot can play as a right-back but can also play down the left and is expected to be joined by a number of other players that United seem to be keeping an eye on.

While the player is not the big name star that many would have expected, it is good to see that the club is taking an active role in the summer window and not wasting time.

Dalot could be a similar signing to that of Victor Lindelof. The Swede might have struggled initially at Old Trafford but he is one for the future and the same can be said about the Porto man as well.

Mourinho will have a tough task ahead of him next season as the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and even Tottenham will be looking to build on a decent campaign last time around. Chelsea too might be spending a lot of money in the summer as they look to get back into top-four.

Let’s hope the club takes the right steps to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title.
