Mourinho seeks to follow up the signings of Fred and Dalot with Atletico Madrid star but player won’t be available for Cheap

Atletico Madrid are open to selling Manchester United target Sime Vrsaljko according to AS (h/t The Express) but they have not yet received a bid to their liking.

The Croatian is a part of the World Cup squad and will be facing Denmark in the round of 16. Vrsaljko featured in the group stage wins over Nigeria and Argentina but was rested for the final match of the group stage.

The 26-year-old right-back is a player that Diego Simeone is willing to let go but only for the right price. Another club interested in the Croatian is Inter Milan and the club hopes for a bidding war to start so that they can get good value for one of Croatia’s stars from the World Cup.

It does seem to be a little surprising that we are after Vrsaljko given that we already have Diogo Dalot as one of the right-back options for next year.

What we need is a quality left-back to be coming in and even though Vrsaljko can play down the left, his natural position is that of a right-back.

Vrsaljko played just 21 games in La Liga for Atletico last season but he does seem to be a decent bet as a right-back and maybe increasing the competition for the likes of Antonio Valencia can be a good thing for the club.

The longer we wait to sign the 26-year-old, the more his price will increase as Croatia look to progress to the quarter-finals and beyond at the World Cup.
