David Moyes redeemed himself a little bit this week after Manchester United progressed into the final eight of the Champions League. However, all hope was killed when we drew Bayern Munich in the next round. Ignoring the European impossibilities United travel to West Ham tomorrow, and this is how I would line the team up in East London.

Although many had already written us off, Manchester United went on to beat Olympiakos 3-0 last night and progress into the final eight of the Champions League. We may be the weakest looking team left in the tournament, but there is no reason we cannot keep going in the competition and cause some shocks.

Tonight is the night. If Manchester United go out of the Champions League tonight then I think it will be the last straw for many supporters in terms of the David Moyes’ tenure. It is finally here. The game we have all been waiting for. This afternoon we invite our friends from Merseyside to Old Trafford in order to put them back in their place and move up the table, and although Liverpool are currently flying, we are Manchester United and they will always be in our shadow. Compared to last season, the tables have most definitely turned in this hotly anticipated battle between two of the North West biggest clubs. The Red Devils won the championship at a canter last season, but under manager David Moyes, they are currently languishing in 6^th. People outside of Manchester United seem to think of Javier Hernandez as a player who is being treated unfairly at Old Trafford. If casual football fans can see that he is being wasted at the club, then why can’t those who are in charge? Hernandez is a cracking little player, and I think if United, and David Moyes in particular, wants to build a new era at the club, then he’s vital to that.

Growing up an Everton player and swapping to Manchester United, Liverpool won’t be up there with Wayne Rooney’s favourite clubs. He has enjoyed a love-hate relationship with those up at Anfield over the decade or so that he has been in the Premier League, and it looks like their good form this season has hit a nerve for the United forward.

Alex Song – a Cameroon international who is adored by Arsenal fans after his seven year stint at the club. He managed over 200 games for the Gunners during his time in north London though was not rewarded in silverware – he was part of the squads that failed in the Champions League final in 2005-06 and the League Cup twice. However, it’s not Arsenal that are being linked with him, it’s Manchester United.

I don’t need to tell you how Manchester United’s season is going. The Red Devils ‘ form has been reported on, analysed and ripped to shreds ever since David Moyes came into the club and they currently sit sixth in the table, nine points behind Manchester City in fourth. Manuel Pellegrini’s men do have two games in hand, though. But I think I know how to fix that problem.

According to talkSPORT, Barcelona have opened talks with forward Pedro over a new contract. The news will come as a huge blow for Manchester United fans, as the Red Devils had previously been linked with the winger. It doesn’t mean a deal to Old Trafford is necessarily dead in the water, though it certainly clouds any potential deal. Most casual football fans, when asked about Manchester United, will only know about our recent triumphs. To them, we probably didn’t exist before Sir Alex Ferguson became manager, which to be fair was over two decades ago.
