Manchester United are prepared to break the bank for €60m-rated Atalanta star, Giorgio Scalvini. The Red Devils’ interest in the 20-year-old is well documented and they have been in pursuit for quite some time.

Now, as reported by Team Talk, the Italian star could end up becoming the first signing of the INEOS era as the team prepares to go after Scalvini during the summer.

This would be the right time for such a move as Raphael Varane is expected to leave Manchester United at the end of the season. The Frenchman will be out of contract during that time and a new contract might not be in the books.

Clearly, the team’s defensive struggles this season will lead the management to make some drastic decisions. While the summer transfer window might open with Scalvini, the Red Devils might not stop there.

The team has also been linked with Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen. With all this talk of new defenders being targeted, Old Trafford will likely get to witness an entirely new defensive line during the summer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have promised to transform the club and bring it back to its former glory. Changes will be made at every level and for the time being no one on Erik ten Hag’s squad looks untouchable.
