Manchester United have kneeled out in the race to sign former Liverpool chief as their new director.

As reported by Independent, Manchester United have accepted defeat in the race to sign former Liverpool chief, Michael Edwards as their new director. While he is still a target for the Red Devils, the possibility of singing is slim, to say the least.

The man in question, Edwards wants to do something different with his career. He believes that his successful run with the Reds has been more than enough. Moreover, why would someone want to leave an established system and come over to Old Trafford which is in the middle of a rebuild?

Manchester United will have a tough time attracting suitors for the role of Sporting Director. A lot of this has to do with the fact that the team is currently in shambles.

It has to be left up to INEOS who were successful in stealing Omar Berrada from under the noses of their bitter rivals, Manchester City. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will have to take charge of finding a new Sporting Director as well.

Now the team is giving greater priority to signing a deal with Bayern Munich chief, Christopher Freund. Another target for Manchester United is Roma chief, Tiago Pinto who is already set to depart his own club.

It is a very positive sight to see INEOS gearing up for the summer transfer window. As new people arrive and the club begins to get more structure, the situation will improve as Erik ten Hag will have a lot of pressure taken off his shoulders.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is slowly beginning to transform the Old Trafford management.

However, Sir Ratcliffe and INEOS must move fast, further delays could hurt the second half of the season and the team surely doesn’t want a repeat of the first half.
