Manchester United legend David Beckham responds to Scott McTominay tribute after Brentford heroics
Manchester United legend David Beckham responded to Scott McTominay after the Scot paid tribute to Beckham’s Netflix documentary. The 26-year-old mentioned the documentary in a post-match interview after his heroic display against Brentford.
United beat Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League game at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils were on the brink of their third consecutive loss at Old Trafford before McTominay came on.
The Scotland International scored two extra-time goals to make a memorable comeback victory that earned United three important points.
McTominay talked about watching Beckham’s Netflix documentary, the night before the game and the inspiration it gave him. The 26-year-old is a United Academy product just like Beckham and he is a United fan at heart.
Beckham responded to the video of McTominay’s post-match interview (Manchester United’s official site) by saluting the Scotsman’s tribute. He wrote:
“It’s what it’s always been about. Well Said”
United have suffered an agonizing start to the season as they are currently 10th in the Premier League. Additionally, the Red Devils have lost the first two Champions League Group A games.
Hopefully, McTominay’s late heroism will become the catalyst needed for United to turn the momentum in their favor.
Beckham’s documentary portrayed the history and many incredible memories the former England captain had shared with Old Trafford fans. The Netflix documentary covered the incredible season for the Red Devils when they achieved a historic treble in 1999.
McTominay showed the passion, drive, and relentless attitude that helped the United’s 1999 squad achieve a monumental feat.

Fichajes reported that the Red Devils wanted to sell the Scottish international in the January transfer window to raise funds. We think that the United staff would be thinking twice before selling a player with such ability and devotion.
We hope that McTominay will get more opportunities to prove his worth. The 26-year-old’s teammates can benefit from similar inspiration to raise their performances as United needs consistent results to build momentum.
