Man United handed boost in Michael Olise chase as Chelsea drop interest

As per 90Min, Michael Olise would be open to a move to Man United in the summer should the club make a move for him.

The young Crystal Palace star has continued attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights this season with his performances despite having had an injury-ridden campaign.

Man United are now assumed to have a clearer road ahead of them for the Frenchman’s signature because Chelsea have reportedly dropped their interest.

The Blues had ostensibly triggered a legally-complicated release clause in Olise’s contract last summer, rumoured to be around £35 million, after which Palace threatened them with legal action and extended the 22-year-old’s contract, which again is deemed to have a just-as-tricky release clause valued between £50 million and £60 million.

Despite being in the clear for now, United may find convincing Olise to join them harder should same-city rivals Man City reignite their interest come summer.

Olise would be a good fit for United for the reported price, but…

Man United are likely to lose the likes of Facundo Pellistri and Antony on the right-hand side this summer. If someone of Olise’s quality is available for £60 million, that’s an option United ought to explore.

They do need to be careful, however. Olise has sustained hamstring injuries over the last two seasons, something that needs to be properly assessed by the club before they take a punt on him.
