David Beckham’s first Manchester United contract up for auction, could fetch up to £10,000
As reported by The Sun, David Beckham’s first-ever Manchester United contract is up for auction and could be about to fetch a small fortune.
This contract, signed by the 48-year-old back in 1991 when he was 15, fetched him a modest £29.50 per week. Peanuts gave what was to come.
The junior contract is going up for auction alongside the other five contracts Beckham signed while he was at Old Trafford.
Aside from Beckham, the contracts of his fellow United legends Eric Cantona and Paul Scholes are also going up for auction.
The contracts are being auctioned off by James & Sons, who describe them as “An unbelievable bit of modern Manchester United history.”
More celebration of Man United history as a new dawn beckons
The auctioning off of contracts of some of United’s biggest-ever players calls for another moment or two to celebrate the juggernaut the Red Devils used to be in the first two decades of the Premier League era.
The days of Beckham, Scholes, and Cantona are a far cry from the mediocrity United have drifted into ever since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson some eleven years ago.
