Former Manchester United defender Mikaël Silvestre condemns Jadon Sancho
Former Manchester United defender Mikaël Silvestre talked to bettingexpert.com (h/t Manchester Evening News) to convey his displeasure towards Jadon Sancho.
The Frenchman criticized Sancho’s method of dealing with United manager Erik ten Hag and challenged him to be “a man”.
The 46-year-old’s scathing remarks came in light of the Englishman’s complete ban from using first-team facilities at Carrington. Sancho has refused to apologize to Ten Hag while blaming the manager for having double standards.
Silvestre spoke to bettingexpert.com (h/t Manchester Evening News) to berate Sancho’s method in dealing with the United manager’s remarks. He said:
“First of all, these things should stay between the manager and himself, not in the public domain. If you have something to say to your boss, you don’t go on social media, you go in the office and you talk to him, as a man. “I’m sorry, you’re a grown-up, you take the meeting with the manager and you speak to him. There’s no need to speak to your entourage, your agent, your family.”
The England International was not part of the matchday team against Arsenal in the Premier League game before the international break. The United boss revealed Sancho’s poor training performance as the reason for the exclusion.
Sancho immediately retaliated to the criticism by making a social post on X (formerly known as Twitter). The 23-year-old defended his training performance and blamed Ten Hag for using him as a scapegoat.
The Red Devils signed Sancho from German club Borussia Dortmund where he was one of the most prolific players. The 23-year-old has received criticism for not meeting the expectations at Old Trafford since his signing.
Daily Mail reported that Ten Hag publicly disclosed Sancho’s mental health issues without permission. The United manager gave Sancho a three-month break last season to work on his physical and mental health.

We think there’s more to this unpleasant spat between the player and the manager than we know. Condemning either side so harshly without fully understanding the situation is unhelpful. Mental health is a serious issue that goes beyond the realm of football and Silvestre’s comments are unnecessary and adds little to the argument.
However, Sancho’s future is completely up to him after reaching an impasse with Ten Hag. He can either apologize and earn his place under the Dutchman or United might look to sell him soon.
