Manchester United are set to reward Aaron Wan-Bissaka with a new improved contract offer

According to the Telegraph (h/t the Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are in talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka over a new contract.

Wan-Bissaka has entered the final year of his contract having secured a mover from Crystal Palace in 2019 but the club has an option of extending it by another year.

The club are willing to show praise to the defender for the progression he has made under manager Erik Ten Hag with a new improved contract offer.

Wan-Bissaka should be rewarded for the way he has transformed his United career. In a span of twelve months, he went from being seen as one of the players who would leave the club to a regular starter.

Ten Hag appreciates players who show resilience and character and Wan-Bissaka has done exactly that when questions were being asked about his on-ball skills and ability.

While there was no doubt even back then that he was an elite one vs. one defender, he lacked the basic skills required to play as a modern attacking fullback, something which Diogo Dalot provided pretty well.

However, the player kept his head down and worked on his deficiencies and came out a better and stronger player, so much so that now Dalot is often seen on the bench with Wan-Bissaka as the preferred first-choice option.

The right-back department is one area where United do not need to worry with both Wan-Bissaka and Dalot good enough and complement each other’s skills.

Dalot already signed a new contract last season and with Wan-Bissaka also close to an agreement, United have resolved their right-back situation for the foreseeable future.
