Serie A side Fiorentina not happy with Manchester United loan offer for Sofyan Amrabat ahead of deadline day drama

According to the Athletic, Fiorentina have turned down a Manchester United loan proposal for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as the deadline day approaches.

After weeks of rumours, the Red Devils have finally entered into negotiations with the Serie A club to secure a deal for the Moroccan star, but they have kept it too late.

Nonetheless, the 20-time English champions are facing challenges in adhering to Financial Fair Play regulations, which limit their financial flexibility in the late stages of the transfer market.

It is said that Man United made a loan offer to the Italian side on Wednesday for the 27-year-old player.

Fiorentina have rejected this offer, as they are holding out for a permanent transfer and value the player at €35 million (£30 million).

It has been revealed that United’s proposed loan deal involved paying €2m (£1.7m) in two instalments of €1m (£860,000), with a break clause effective in January. This meant the player’s parent club would only receive €1m (£860,000), leading them to swiftly reject the offer.

While Fiorentina prefers a permanent sale at this point, they might consider a loan deal if it includes an obligation to buy. Both teams are expected to continue negotiations on Thursday in hopes of reaching an agreement before the Friday evening deadline.

Amrabat’s future has been a topic of extensive discussion this summer, as several clubs have shown interest in signing him.

The defensive midfielder played a significant role in helping his national team reach the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Additionally, he made 49 appearances for Fiorentina last season, contributing to their journey to the final in the Coppa Italia and the Europa Conference League.

United have strengthened their midfield this summer with the signing of Mason Mount. However, the English international is currently sidelined due to an injury.

In our view, the Red Devils might consider offering a loan deal that includes a mandatory purchase clause to convince the Serie A outfit to agree to Amrabat‘s transfer before the upcoming Friday’s deadline.

Without such an arrangement, there’s a possibility that United could lose out on signing the African star.

The Italian club would have no choice but to keep the midfielder for the upcoming season if they don’t receive satisfactory offers before the transfer window closes.

Time is ticking away for United.
