Manchester United are looking to extend the contracts of Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Hannibal Mejbri
Six players have contracts that expire in the summer of 2024, but United has the option to extend their stay by one year at their discretion. Among them are Wan-Bissaka and Lindelof. It helps retain their services and also prevents us from losing them for free.
Also anticipated to be extended is Hannibal Mejbri’s contract, which gives United wiggle room regarding a potential extension. Before Wan-Bissaka hurt himself against Brighton on September 16, his reps were in negotiation with the club regarding an extension.
It seems that United and Wan-Bissaka’s representatives have discussed a better contract. Under Erik ten Hag, the English right-back has had a professional metamorphosis of sorts and has worked his way back into the Dutchman’s plans.
Despite Manchester United’s dismal start to the season, Hannibal has been a bright spot for the club. The midfielder from Tunisia has performed admirably, tallying one goal in five games across all competitions. Ten Hag appears to have included the 20-year-old in his long-term plans for the Red Devils.
The club’s takeover predicament presents the sole chance for a shift in perspective on the activation of the trio’s one-year options. Things might be different if Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS firm takes over the Red Devils’ football operations. But then, we will only know for sure when the time comes.
Another player who we can lose is Anthony Martial. His contract is slated to expire next year, therefore there is still uncertainty regarding his future. He has been relegated to the bench by Rasmus Hojlund and is not a regular in the United first squad. In nine appearances this season across all competitions, the French striker has one goal and one assist to his credit.
Alvaro Fernandez and Brandon Williams, the club’s reserve left-backs, are currently on loan at La Liga team Granada and Championship outfit Ipswich Town respectively. If there is clear resale value, these players may receive an extension to their contracts next season.

All that remains to be seen is what United does with the players at this point. Who remains and who goes will undoubtedly be clear as we near the 2024 summer transfer window.
