Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen on top-four race after “important” Nottingham Forest win
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen feels the win over Nottingham Forest was an “important” one for the Red Devils in the race for a top-four spot.
The Old Trafford side visited the City Ground on Sunday (16 April) in the Premier League. However, Steve Cooper’s team were no match for the Manchester-based club as they cruised past a 2-0 victory.
Speaking after the match to MUTV via Manchester Evening News, the Denmark international, who started for the first time since his lengthy injury, gave his thoughts on the race for the Champions League places.

“It’s a very important win. I think every game from now until the end of the season is going to be very important, someone is going to drop down, someone is going to get in front, so if stay on the front foot, we’ll be in a very good position.”
Eriksen was a last-minute change Erik ten Hag had to make to the XI after Marcel Sabitzer had to be withdrawn due to an injury. However, the 31-year-old did not disappoint as he played alongside Casemiro in the double pivot.
In the last few weeks, United have enjoyed a decent setup with Sabitzer playing as a number 10 and Bruno Fernandes dropping deeper. However, the Danish national did not let us miss that.
The Red Devils got the job done in a comfortable fashion against Forest. Antony opened the scoring for the Old Trafford side at the half-hour mark.
Subsequently, Diogo Dalot was also set up brilliantly by the Brazilian to find the back of the net in the 76th minute to secure the three points.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are closely challenging Man United in the pursuit of a top-four spot, both dropped points over the weekend. As a result, with a win, the Red Devils moved back to third place in the league table.
