Manchester United target Dani Olmo pushing for Barcelona move

Popular German journalist Christian Falk has told Caught Offside that Manchester United target Dani Olmo is pushing for a move to Spanish giants Barcelona, a club he spent his formative years at.

The 24-year-old RB Leipzig playmaker has a preference for his next destination and wants to join the Catalan giants. However, with Barcelona facing financial woes, Manchester United can take advantage of the situation.

Since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020, Dani Olmo has made gradual progress. Although he has suffered some fitness issues this season, he has managed to score four goals and provide six assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Despite not having an opening in the offensive unit, Manchester United can capitalize on Olmo’s versatility in the final third. He can play various roles, making him an attractive proposition for the Red Devils.

However, the Spaniard has made it clear that he would like to join Barcelona, but is not averse to a move to England. Manchester United must fight hard to persuade the talented playmaker to move to Old Trafford.

Speaking about the situation, here is what Falk had to say about the talented forward and what the future holds for him

“The Spaniard would like to join FC Barcelona but is not averse to a move to England. Manchester United are also among those interested whilst Leipzig are struggling to renew Olmo’s contract. The problem: Olmo wanted to have an immediate release clause for the summer of 2023 in the new contract”

Meanwhile, Barcelona has a long-standing interest in the player, and with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, they need to scour the market for a wide attacker. Olmo knows the club all too well.

Manchester United’s offensive unit has been inconsistent this season, with Antony and Jadon Sancho blowing hot and cold. Olmo’s arrival could provide a much-needed boost and add depth to the squad and bring some flair.

Let’s hope that Olmo signs for Man United. He will be a superb signing to have at the club but it will not be easy. Only time will tell how this pans out.
