Roy Keane hails Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes after Nottingham Forest win
Manchester United icon Roy Keane believes Bruno Fernandes is the best of the bunch after his performance against Nottingham Forest in the 2-0 victory.
The Red Devils took in the Tricky Trees away from home on Sunday (16 April). However, the Old Trafford side were too good for Steve Cooper’s team and got the crucial three points at the City Ground.
Speaking after the match on Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Keane, who spent 12 years at United during his playing career, was full of praise for the Portugal international.

“I know we criticise him when United don’t win football matches. He’s two steps ahead in terms of his quality and the picture he has on the football pitch. I think the guy’s pure quality.”
Fernandes started in his usual number 10 role in the win over Forest. In recent weeks, the playmaker has been deployed in a deeper role with Marcel Sabitzer further forward. However, with the Austrian withdrawn just before kickoff, Eriksen came back into the lineup and played alongside Casemiro.
However, the last-minute change did not deter the former Sporting CP star. In the first half, the 28-year-old was instrumental. He put in some decent crosses and had a shot on goal before setting up the opener.
Fernandes slipped in Anthony Martial through on goal. The French national’s shot was saved, but Antony was on hand to poke it into the back of the net.
Subsequently, after the break, the Portuguese had some brilliant efforts saved by Keylor Navas. But then, in the 76th minute, Diogo Dalot secured the three points for United.
The playmaker has been a key player for Erik ten Hag at the Old Trafford side. Apart from playing in the double pivot, the gaffer has also used the 28-year-old on the right and left wing on certain occasions.

With Harry Maguire being on the bench for the Red Devils for most of the season, Fernandes has been handed the captain’s armband when the centre-back does not play. The Portuguese possesses immense quality and hopefully will continue to perform in our bid to secure a top-four spot.
