Jean-Michel Aulas, the president of Olympique Lyon, is keen to keep a hold of Malo Gusto for the rest of the season amidst interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Red Devils have been battling Graham Potter’s team in their pursuit of the 19-year-old. Both teams were hoping to acquire the full-back’s services in the ongoing transfer window.

However, speaking to the media via The Sun, Aulas has no intentions of parting ways with the France U21 international in January. The Ligue 1 outfit’s president is determined not to let the youngster leave this month.

“I can confirm that Malo Gusto will stay here at least until the end of the season.”

Gusto made his way through the youth ranks at Lyon and broke out in the previous campaign. Since then, he has been a pivotal player in Les Gones’ starting lineup.

In the current campaign, the French national has made 15 appearances in the league for Lyon, providing one assist. Laurent Blanc was recently appointed in the Ligue 1 outfit’s dugout after Peter Bosz’s sacking.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are still looking to get a hold of the 19-year-old’s signature. The Blues have made the youngster their priority.

Potter currently has Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta at his disposal. However, the England international has been injury prone while the Spanish veteran is in the final years of his career.

As for United, Erik ten Hag can call upon Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back. However, the former Crystal Palace star has lost his place to the Portuguese in the team.

Therefore, if the England U21 international decides to leave the Red Devils in the coming months, we well evidently need to add reinforcements. Gusto is a young and talented player with a lot of potential. However, it remains to be seen whether Aulas will be more accepting of his departure in the summer.
