Manchester United are targeting Olympique Lyon Malo Gusto for the right-back spot and highly rate the 19-year-old, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.

However, the France U21 international is not the only name on the Red Devils’ list. The Old Trafford side are also eyeing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

But Erik ten Hag prefers a move for Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries. The 26-year-old has been in fine form for his club this season. The Netherlands international also caught a lot of people’s eyes with his displays at the 2022 World Cup.

Gusto would be a ‘big solution’ for United in the summer of 2023. However, the club hierarchy expects a price tag of around €30–40 million for the 19-year-old.

The youngster has come up through the youth ranks at Lyon. He broke into the French side’s first team in the previous campaign. The French national has been pivotal for the Ligue 1 outfit this season as well.

This term, Gusto has made 14 appearances in the league for Lyon. The 19-year-old has provided one assist. He is versatile as well and has played a bit forward up on the right on occasions.

At United, Diogo Dalot has been the first-choice right-back under Erik ten Hag. The 23-year-old has cemented his place in the team with his displays in the current campaign and has started most of the fixtures.

On the other hand, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has hardly seen any competitive action this season. The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of the Dutch manager.

Thus, it is evident that the Old Trafford side need a new right back if Wan-Bissaka departs. However, whether Gusto is the chosen one remains to be seen.
