Chelsea set to ‘step up’ pursuit for Olympique Lyon right-back Malo Gusto amidst Manchester United links
Premier League rivals Chelsea are set to ‘step up’ their pursuit of Olympique Lyon star Malo Gusto amidst links to Manchester United, according to L’Equipe (h/t Express).
As per the Daily Mail, apart from the Red Devils, Manchester City and Newcastle United have also been associated with the 19-year-old’s signature in the ongoing transfer window.
However, the Blues now have the right-back on their radar as well. Graham Potter’s team have already made several signings this month and are looking to add the France U21 international to their long line of incomings in January.
But the Ligue 1 outfit are not keen on parting ways with Gusto in the ongoing transfer window. Although, the Stamford Bridge side have been told the right-back could be available for £35 million.
Chelsea have struggled in the current campaign. Reece James has been a pivotal player for them over the years. However, the England international has struggled with injuries and Cesar Azpilicueta is the only other option Potter can use at right-back.
As for United, Diogo Dalot has been Erik ten Hag’s first choice this season. The Portugal international has been brilliant under the Dutch manager.

However, in recent weeks, the 23-year-old has been on the sidelines. As a result, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been counted on. The 25-year-old has been brilliant with the opportunities he has been given.
Gusto
is a highly-rated prospect. He broke into Lyon’s first team in the previous campaign and has since cemented his place in the French outfit’s starting lineup.More Manchester United News

As of now, United have two decent right-backs at their disposal. However, if one of them decides to leave the club to be a regular starter, the 19-year-old is a decent option for the Red Devils to look at.
