Erik ten Hag demands Manchester United “to look for better” in January transfer window

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has demanded that the Red Devils “have to look for better” in January. The Dutch manager does not rule out the possibility of more arrivals in the ongoing transfer window.

The Old Trafford side have got loan deals over the line for two stars this month. First, we signed Jack Butland from Crystal Palace and then sealed a move for Wout Weghorst from Burnley on temporary deals until the end of the campaign.

However, speaking to the media via Metro, it seems Ten Hag is not done with the transfer business in the current window. The gaffer has admitted that the club will pounce on any “opportunities” they will get.

“I think Manchester United always you have to look for solutions & always you have to look for better. That is what we will do. We will be doing our research and if there are opportunities, yeah, we have to go for it.”

In the summer of 2022, United signed six new players to bolster Ten Hag’s squad. First, Tyrell Malacia made his way to Manchester from Feyenoord. Then, Christian Eriksen signed for us as a free agent, followed by the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.

Towards the end of the previous transfer window, the Red Devils ended up getting a hold of Casemiro’s services. Antony was another player who reunited with the Dutch manager at the Old Trafford side.

United also got Martin Dubravka on loan from Newcastle United for the 2022/23 season. However, the Magpies recalled the shot-stopper in January.

Our summer signings have made their mark in Manchester. After an abysmal start to the campaign, the gaffer has been able to steady the ship.

The Red Devils’ transfer business this month seems to have been forced upon them. Butland was needed to add cover after Dubravka’s departure, while Weghorst has been brought in to add depth to the attack after Cristiano Ronaldo’s untimely exit.

It remains to be seen whether United will get any more players in January. With the uncertainty around the ownership, will Ten Hag be provided with the funds? Only time will tell.
