Manchester United ‘are an option’ for out-of-contract Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus
Manchester United ‘are an option’ for Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus, with his current contract running out at the end of the season, according to Christian Falk on CaughtOffside (h/t Express).
The 33-year-old’s agent was present at Old Trafford during the Manchester Derby. In the end, the Red Devils made a valiant comeback and beat Pep Guardiola’s team 2-1.
Apart from watching the match, the Germany international’s representative also held a meeting with Erik ten Hag. The forward was a topic of discussion between the two and the Dutch manager ‘seemed to be interested’ in acquiring the veteran’s services.
However, as of yet, United are yet to make a proposal to Reus. Nothing is concrete at the moment. Clubs from the Middle East have been linked with the forward’s signature.
The 33-year-old moved to Dortmund in the summer of 2012 from Borussia Monchengladbach. Over the years, the German has been a key player for BVB.
Unfortunately, Reus has not had the best of times with injuries during his time at the Signal Iduna Park side. As a result, the 33-year-old has found it hard to play at the top of his level consistently.
The forward holds the captain’s armband for the Bundesliga giants. In the current campaign, the German has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Edin Terzic’s team, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
United’s forward line currently has a host of talented youngsters. In the current campaign, Marcus Rashford has led the Red Devils’ front line to good effect. However, we could evidently do with more quality up front.
