Manchester United and Arsenal ‘interested’ in AS Roma striker and England international Tammy Abraham

Premier League rivals Arsenal, along with Manchester United, are ‘interested’ in bringing AS Roma star Tammy Abraham back to the Premier League, according to La Repubblica via Roma Press (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The England international has been linked with a move back to his home country, having left Chelsea for the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2021. However, it remains to be seen which side gets him.

Mikel Arteta’s team are currently flying high in the English top flight. The Gunners are on top of the league table. However, they have lost Gabriel Jesus to injury, with Eddie Nketiah the only natural backup to the Brazilian.

At United, we also evidently need to bolster our front line after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure just before the start of the 2022 World Cup. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are the options who Erik ten Hag has played in the number nine position.

After disappointing in the previous campaign, the French and English stars have been in fine form for the Red Devils this term. The 25-year-old has been impressive since the former Ajax head coach’s arrival.

The Dutch manager has other forwards at his disposal as well. Antony was signed in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has been the gaffer’s preferred choice on the right wing.

Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga are in the squad as well. However, none of them are centre-forwards. Therefore, an out-and-out striker is seemingly important,

Abraham had an impressive debut season under Jose Mourinho. However, the 25-year-old has been underwhelming in the current campaign. As a result, he missed out on a call-up to England’s 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup.

While Abraham is a decent forward, he does not look to be the player that United need to take them to the next level, considering the 25-year-old’s displays this season. However, he is one player who knows the league due to his time with Chelsea and it won’t be a bad gamble if we do end up signing him.
