Manchester United are ‘eyeing’ a move for Inter Milan and Bosnia and Herzegovina star Edin Dzeko to bolster the forward line, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The 36-year-old’s current deal with the Nerazzurri expires at the end of the campaign. However, he has not yet had a discussion with the Serie A outfit about a contract extension.

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s untimely exit in November, the Red Devils are keen on adding reinforcement up top. It is expected that the Old Trafford side will sign a forward on loan in the ongoing transfer window.

European giants Real Madrid are also interested in Dzeko’s signature. Los Blancos have Karim Benzema up top. But the French national is only being backed up by Mariano Diaz as a natural centre-forward. Rodrygo has also played down the middle for the Spanish outfit on several occasions.

The Bosnian has been in Italy for some time now. He played for AS Roma for several years before moving to Inter in the summer of 2021.

But the 36-year-old is still performing decently for the Nerazzurri. He has found the back of the net 10 times in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit.

Dzeko has previous experience in the Premier League as well. He spent four and a half years at Manchester City, winning two English top-flight titles – and that will surely make headlines he now joins their fiercest rivals.

At United, we evidently need to add another striker in the squad, considering Anthony Martial is the only natural number nine at Erik ten hag’s disposal. Marcus Rashford has also played down the middle up front a number of times in the current campaign.

However, a club of the Red Devils’ stature and financial clout should not have to be desperate for a player like the Bosnian, no disrespect intended. Instead, the Old Trafford side should be decisive and get someone who can lead the club’s line for the long term.
