AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham ‘destined’ for Premier League return amidst Manchester United links

Tammy Abraham, who plays for AS Roma, is destined to return to the Premier League amidst links to Manchester United, according to Sky in Italy (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Teams in the English top flight are on high alert due to the striker’s displays with the Giallorossi. The Red Devils are looking at the 25-year-old as a back-up option to Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The England international made his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea. After a few decent seasons out on loan, in the 2019/20 campaign, Frank Lampard gave the forward an opportunity in the Blues’ first team.

Subsequently, Abraham had a decent spell leading the Stamford Bridge side’s attack. However, with the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, the 25-year-old saw his influence in the team diminish.

Then, the England international signed for Roma in the summer of 2021. In his debut season in Italy, the 25-year-old became the Giallorossi’s talisman and helped them win the UEFA Europa Conference League.

However, Abraham has petered off a bit in the current campaign. He has struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. In 38 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants, he has scored just seven goals.

At the moment, United’s number nine position is lacking depth. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are the only two natural options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.

The French national has been injury prone this season, while the Burnley loanee is only at the club until the end of the campaign.

Therefore, we could evidently do with more depth up front. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be Abraham’s destination upon his return to England.
