Real Madrid join AC Milan and Manchester United in the pursuit of Cody Gakpo
Speaking in an interview with Fichajes.net as quoted by Manchester Evening News, European giants Real Madrid have joined AC Milan and Manchester United in the race to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
The 23-year-old winger has been sensational in the Eredivisie, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists from just ten appearances this season. His numbers have seen a meteoric rise for quite some time now.
Man United have been heavily linked with a move for the talented Dutchman for quite some time now but a move did not materialise until now. However, the Red Devils have still retained an interest in the 23-year-old.
Gakpo has a total of 13 goals and 11 assists from just 18 appearances across all competitions this season. This comes on the back of a campaign where he scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in 47 appearances on all fronts.
Extremely talented, Gakpo is one of those rare breeds of wingers who at such a young age is comfortable scoring goals and setting up assists for his teammates with equal ease. A transfer from the Dutch league is long-pending for the talented wide man.
It is now looking more and more likely that the Red Devils will face a lot of competition to sign the player. His performances are not going unnoticed and giants like Real Madrid and AC Milan also want the player.
Gakpo has a contract with the Dutch giants until 2026 (transfermarkt), and PSV will undoubtedly ask for a huge price from any club that want to sign the talented winger. It remains to be seen how much the asking price is for the Dutchman.
Real Madrid have the financial power and the draw to entice Gakpo and it is something that Man United need to be wary about. With Marco Asensio’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu unclear, Los Blancos could be in the market for a new winger come the summer of 2023.

Along with the Brazilian, we also have Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo to round off an exciting crop of talented wingers for the present and the future.
Adding a Gakpo to this will make the Red Devils look enviable. If the 23-year-old can replicate his performances in the Eredivisie in the Premier League as well, then he will have a great future in the game and let’s hope it’s at Old Trafford.
